ABOUT THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program awards funds to support economic development, housing and community-based initiatives that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income persons or households. Funding for the CDBG program is provided to New Hampshire through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. New Hampshire’s statewide CDBG program has been administered by CDFA since 2003.

Eligible applicants for CDBG funds include most New Hampshire incorporated counties, cities, and towns. A nonprofit agency may also apply through its municipality or county as a sub-recipient of CDBG funds.

Please note the federally-designated entitlement communities of Dover, Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, and Rochester are ineligible to apply as they receive CDBG funds directly from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

All applications must be received by CDFA through its online grants management system (https://nhcdfagrants.org). Additional information on the CDBG Program, including application information and resources, can be found by visiting https://resources.nhcdfa.org/programs/community-development-block-grant/.

Schedule a Meeting with CDFA
CDFA staff offers applicants technical assistance, guidance on program objectives, and instruction on how to successfully complete an application. Technical assistance is provided through workshops, one-on-one training, and pre-application meetings.

Organizations interested in applying that would like a pre-application meeting with CDFA staff can email Carolyn Saunders at csaunders@nhcdfa.org to schedule a time.

CDFA would like to better understand the landscape of organizations interested in delivering services to family child care providers across the state. Those organizations interested in advancing this work but not currently ready to apply for implementation resources within this grant opportunity are encouraged to fill out this form and request a meeting with CDFA staff by emailing Carolyn Saunders at csaunders@nhcdfa.org to schedule a time.

CDFA’s Investment in New Hampshire’s Child Care Sector and Small Businesses
Investing in New Hampshire’s child care sector is a high priority for CDFA and advances the equity and community impact goals outlined in the organization’s new Living Strategic Plan, as well as leverages the organization’s role as a statewide convener. Since state fiscal year 2014, CDFA has invested more than $16 million to support child care services and facilities in New Hampshire at various stages of project development.

The Statewide Family-based Child Care Pilot Program also builds on CDFA’s long-standing history of investment in the statewide infrastructure to support New Hampshire’s small businesses through the federal Community Development Block Grant Microenterprise Program.
